August Fun: 5 Free Concerts and Outdoor Movies in Bay Area Parks
It’s time to take advantage of the warm summer nights in the Bay Area! Many parks put together summer concerts and outdoor movies to enjoy with family or friends. Bring your picnic blanket and snacks, and get ready for some fun!
1. StarLight Cinema: St. James Park, San Jose
On August 5th at dusk, go to St. James Park for an outdoor movie showing of Back to the Future (PG)! Pre-movie activities start at 7:30 pm with lawn games and local vendors!

2. Summer Concert Series: Central Park, Fremont
On August 3rd and August 10th at 6 pm, go to the Central Park Performance Pavilion for a rockin’ outdoor concert that both you and your little ones will love! On August 3rd, listen to the Idea Band’s Pop Rock music and on August 10th, listen to the Flock of Seagirl’s 80’s Rock music!

3. Free Movies on the Beach: Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz isn’t technically in the Bay Area, but it’s not far! Plus the Boardwalk is a great place to visit before a viewing some classic kid friendly movies. On August 4th and August 11th at 9pm, go to the Beach in front of the Colonnade for a movie theatre on the beach experience! On August 4th, check out Shrek (PG) and on August 11th, check out The Neverending Story (PG). Pro Tip: Seating is first come, first serve, so make sure you beat the crowds!

4. Hayward Odd Fellows & HARD Concert in the Park: Memorial Park, Hayward
On August 6th, August 13th, August 20th, and August 27th at 1 pm, go to Memorial Park for some live music! Pack a picnic and bring the family! Check out the Memphis Blues Project, Karen Soo Hoo, In Full Swing, and more while supporting The Hard Foundation, Fesco Family Shelter, the Sun Gallery, and the South Hayward Parish.

5. Movies Under the Stars: Central Park, Fremont
On August 24th after sunset, go to the Central Park Performance Pavilion for a screening of Sonic 2 (PG). Pro Tip: Go early for good parking, and to watch the sunset over Lake Elizabeth!
